Oak Community Church (PCA) has been established as a local body of the Church for the purpose of:
- reaching out to the lost and needy through word and deed, beginning in our local community and reaching around the world.
- nurturing one another through teaching, equipping one another for service and making disciples of all who come to know salvation through the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
- building the body of the Church of Jesus Christ through regular worship, prayer, fellowship and observing the sacraments.
Oak Community Church, a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America, is Evangelical and Reformed.
By Evangelical, we mean that we emphasize the gospel (the good news of salvation) through faith in Jesus Christ.
By Reformed, we mean that we are connected to the teachings of the historic church and the doctrinal beliefs recovered by the Reformation. These doctrinal beliefs are expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms and are an excellent summary of the Bible’s teaching but they, like all human documents, are always subject to and subordinate to God’s Holy Scriptures.
In November of 2021 we purchased a new facility at 10760 Dorchester Rd, Summerville, SC 29485 and we moved into it in May of 2023. We encourage you to come and join us for worship on Sundays at 9:30am.
Pastor Mark Turner has been serving at Oak Community Church since 2005 (it was called Oakbrook until 2022) as our Teaching Elder. He has been married to his lovely wife, Shari for over 35 years and they have 4 grown children.
Mark ran a software company for 14 years before serving as a director of youth at First Presbyterian Church in Niceville, FL. Deciding to pursue ministry, he received his Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL. He served for 8 years at Armor Bible Church in Orchard Park, NY as Associate Pastor. Mark has been a certified member of The Association of Certified Biblical Counselors since 2004.
Mark and Shari enjoy serving others through hospitality. At their home they love having God's critters around so they have three chihuahuas, some chickens and horses.
